5th Place Overall for TAMU’s FSAE IC Team

Posted on July 17, 2024 by Jonathan Weaver-Rosen

LinkedIn Post

The Texas A&M Formula SAE racing car team won 5th place overall out of 120 registered teams and 1st place in the Acceleration event at the Formula SAE Michigan competition.

The event challenges undergraduate and graduate students from over 100 universities to conceive, design, develop and compete with small formula-style vehicles. Our Aggies built the car as a senior Capstone Design project. Several graduated in May, and received their diplomas at the Michigan International Speedway!

My job was to support the students while simultaneously challenging their decisions to ensure a proper level of understanding needed to produce a competitive and reliable vehicle. The team won 5th place overall at the competition, but that accolade belongs entirely to the students.

I was part of the 2017 FSAE IC team here at A&M, so I really have an appreciation for the complexity and difficulty of this project.

– Dr. Weaver-Rosen, Faculty Advisor for the 2024 FSAE IC team

Despite the challenge of designing and building a brand new car in just 9 months, the Formula SAE team’s hard work paid off with this impressive achievement.

Since the competition in Michigan conflicted with graduation, the team held a mock ceremony at the finish line of the Michigan International Speedway!
